Many of us will be taking time off in the next week or so to celebrate the holidays. That vacation may include visits with family and friends, opening presents, watching sports, going out to the movies, food (plenty of food, more than likely), or simply time to just kick back and relax!
One of the best ways to relax is reading and there are sure to be folks who already know what they are planning to read during their Holiday vacation. Some folks may currently be reading (or have already finished) the book they were planning to read in December. Or perhaps you have a favorite title you enjoy re-reading at this time of year.
Soooooo, tell us ...
What ARE you reading for the Holidays? And if so inclined, let us know why that book for this Winter season.

I'll start this off with my holiday book for 2014 -- 'RUDOLPH!: He's the Reason for the Season' by Mark Teppo. Hilariously funny yet with poignancy, in the "spirit of the season." Watch the SCCCLD Book Challenge blog for my posting.
ReplyDeleteMay be starting a Christmas reading tradition, looking for twists on Santa & the 'spirit' of Christmas! Last year's holiday read was graphic novel 'Santa versus Dracula' - another hilariously funny read. Reserved it in Dec 2013 but didn't get to read it (other reserves!) until Feb 2014 when I blogged about it on the SCCCLD Book Challenge: http://scccldbc.blogspot.com/2014/02/dracula-versus-santa-melissa-dejesus.html
DeleteI am trying to get my hands on a "Golden Son" ARC, by Pierce Brown. This is the sequel to "Red Rising", which I read last year during my xmas break. I LOVED "Red Rising" and have been waiting a WHOLE YEAR for the story to continue.
ReplyDeleteCan't help with the ARC although 'Golden Son' is due to be published in about two weeks, on Jan 6th. District has multiple copies On Order - if don't already have a reserve placed, might want to get one in now before the just released rush ... :-)
DeleteI am enjoying Under the Mistletoe by Mary Balogh. These well-crafted heart warming stories involve children, families and Christmas and of course romance. It is delightful to see how Christmas influences everyone.
ReplyDeleteA Christmas anthology would be just the thing for romance readers with too much to do during the holidays -- read one story at a time as have the time ...
DeleteI've decided to read Stephen King's "Revival" for the holiday season. Nothing says comfort and joy like a nice King novel. Actuallly, this is quite different from his norm. "Revival" spans five decades and looks at the relationship between a charismatic minister, and a heroin-addicted rock-and-roll guitarist from the same hometown. The conclusion is reported to be of epic proportions. If that doesn't get you in the holiday spirit, nothing will.
ReplyDeleteFrom your description, 'Revival' sounds like it might be more along the lines of '11/22/63' - interesting ...
DeleteI'm reading "Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover: The Fourth Rule of Scoundrels" by Sarah MacLean (Book 4 in the Rules of Scoundrels series). If this is as good as the First, Second and Third Rules then this is going to be a fun read. What a great series so far!
ReplyDeleteHave been meaning to read MacLean's 'Rules of Scoundrels' series. Thanks for bringing it back to my attention! :-)
DeleteI am going to try and finish "Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic" by Emily Croy Barker. I had been sent an ARC 2 years and made it about 75 pages in and then lost track of it. It has been sitting on my side table all that time. I am looking for a read alike to Deborah Harkness' Discovery of Witches.
