SCIENCE FICTION Book Discussion - Question # 3

What about characterization ...

Is Devi a believable main character? Do her actions match her motivations to become tops in her field?

  1. Yes, I believe Devi is a believable character. Based on what we know about her past, I do think she could be determined enough to make it to the top. It sounds like the world doesn't make a distinction between male and female. That is a boost for her career aspirations. Most of her actions match her dreams. She is rather an adrenaline junkie so when the ghost ship is found - does caution come into play? Not really - she is bored and wants to shoot something. Early in the book when time is out of whack and communications with her captain is cut off, she acts with safety for the ship and crew in mind. Sometimes she thinks with her training and other times not so much.
